Nusa Offerings. Bali

This week I have a pleasure to host a truly great photography by Lucy Dodsworth from On the Luce Travel Blog.

Picture Story: You can’t go anywhere in Bali without seeing canang sari. These little baskets of woven leaves, filled with flowers, rice and incense sticks, are made as offerings for the gods.

They are piled up outside shrines and temples, and put in doorways to keep the evil spirits out.And whether you’re out in a rural village or in a bustling city, the spirit world is still an important part of Balinese life.

In our guesthouse on the island of Nusa Lembongan, the owner’s wife would come around twice a day and leave one outside our room. They were some of the prettiest I’d seen, with neatly woven baskets piled with colourful rice andflower petals.

PS. Contact me if you wish to have your picture published in this series. Looking forward to all kind of good pictures!
