Friday Lens Affair #39

Dogsledding at Sunrise, Iceland

Today I’m hosting Ami Price from Entouriste and her amazing photo of dogsledding in Iceland! I felt in love with this picture from the first sight. Strangely I find it quiet warm even though it was obviously very cold morning! The sun in the background warms it up!

And the dogs! Dogs are beautiful! When I come a cross this picture I was so so jealous of Ami and her trip! It was not fair! I wanted to do sth like that as well :) And I surely will one day! As I like to say rather sooner than later!

To see more great photographies please check Ami’s blog or find here on Facebook and Twitter. You will be amazed what a skilful photographer she is!

Picture Story: Dogsledding, Iceland

People always ask what my “favourite” place to visit has been. Any traveler can tell you: this question is impossible! But if I were to pick a favourite, I just may have to choose Iceland. We visited at New Years, and Icelanders know how to celebrate like none other! One of my favourite experiences was going dogsledding!

We woke one morning and headed 2 hours outside of Reykjavik through the biggest Iceland snowstorm in years to Holmasel, where we had booked our sunrise sledding excursion with Dogsledding Iceland. Of course, during winter in Iceland, sunrise happens at around 11:45am.

Noon is my kind of sunrise! It seemed as if we were the only people on earth during that peaceful morning, with fields of snow for miles and miles, and adorable pups jubilantly trekking our sled (with help from my husband pushing!) through the unspoiled snow.

Indeed an amazing experience! I got to do it, too in Alaska at the start of the Iditarod race. So fun and calming in the quiet and cold wilderness. I wish I had the ability to do that for an extended period of time. And awesome photo, too!

    • Wow, I’m so jealous of both all those who did it! I love the dogs, too beautiful!
