“Like all great travelers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.” – Benjamin Disraeli
Summary of 2013 on the 21st of January? Shhhh. I know what you gonna say. “Marysia those kind of posts supposed to be published on the first week of January. Maximum till the tenth.”
Yes. You might be right. But we all do what we want, don’t we?
Ok, ok I’m being a bit naughty. I’m a rebel and I can’t stop being in opposition to everything. Even if I really try! Seriously! You tell me I look good in red, I wear blue. You tell me I should lose some weight? I’m calling Krispy Kreme to schedule daily delivery.
Frankly I was never crazy about celebrating NYE. Of course! As a real rebel I can’t just agree with world’s norms and dates. But every year when I’m getting closer to my birthday I’m always getting a little bit more retrospective and sentimental.
‘The day’ is soon approaching. And yes to cut all the gossips. It is gonna be ‘the scary and the terrible and the oh my god I’m so old 30th birthday’.
Yeah, right. That actually could be my words if I wasn’t called Marysia.
So bring it on. Pop the champagne and don’t bet on my tears!
But back to the subject!
The time has come to be honest with myself and to have a look back into 2013. What have I done? What have I been up to? What have I achieved, if anything?!
Lets start from travels
“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” — Jawaharal Nehru
I’m very good at this! I always score A+ on this class. In 2013 I have visited 13 countries (some of them more than once) and 2 semi-independent territories. I flew countless times and crossed way too many borders by land and air to even bother to count.
Met tones of amazing people. Got myself into superb adventures and had time of my life.
It didn’t happened without some losses. I had 1000$ and small compact camera stolen. I have been proposed sex by the hotel owner in Armenia. I had jewellery stolen from my luggage on the European route. Yes Air Berlin. I used to liked you and been a supportive fan but I won’t step on any of your planes ever again. After so many years of peace Air Berlin is joining Brussels Airlines which lost my luggage back in 2011 on the ‘NO NO FLYING LIST’.
Having been through all that I still think that 2013 was a fabulous year and I do not regret anything! Had a real blast.
” The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it’s all that matters” ― Audrey Hepburn
Here is where the steps starts ha ha ha Seriously, I’m generally happy with my blog. I have a steady readership. As it came out that except my family and friends there are few other people who are reading my stories. Really you would say?! It was hard for me to believe it too, but I will take a chance here to THANK YOU ALL MY DEAR READERS.
I have redesigned my blog. I love it. It is all fancy and mobile responsible. If I would only knew what that actually means. I have a great IT team, thanks Boys.
Have I hit the jackpot? Millions of followers? Eyes of the industry on me? Have I been pointed out by New York Time as one of the blogs to read in 2014? Unfortunately not, but it is not a reason to cry. I will try harder in 2014. Cheers!

Here is where we are hitting rock bottom.
Generally I have been all good with my family and friends. Maybe because I haven’t seen much of them this year. But seriously I feel a bit guilty about that. I try not to miss important events, but sometimes shit just happens.
I wish to see more of my lovely nephews. To talk more with my Sisters. Have few more glasses of wine more with my parents. Attend few more birthday parties of my dear friends. That is something I’m tremendously looking forward in 2014.
As I have four weddings to attend in summer of 2014 I will be staying in Europe for a while, so plenty of time to catch up and be ‘more around’ for my family and friends.
My toxic ex is still bothering me with drunk messages at 4am but what to do?! Some things stay constant in life.
But enough about me. I’m sure you are bored dead by now. Congratulations if you managed to stay focused on this ‘bla bla bla’ till the end.
My Best Travel Photos of 2013
“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” ― Samuel Johnson
Last few days of 2012 and first three weeks of January I have spend travelling in Morocco. Amazing country, had a lot of fun.
After that I have flew to celebrate birthday of my friend in Lisbon and even though storm of the decade hit Lisbon I managed to travel a bit around in Portugal.
In February I have went to ski in Norway, in Hemsedal! Superb! You should check it out.
March was dedicated to Switzerland and introducing my dear friend Miss Champagne to my favourite city on Earth, Tel Aviv.
April was all about staying home, Easter and family. So maybe I haven’t been that terrible after all. May was an escapade to Turkey. Ephesus, Pergamon, Cesme and lovely Izmir.
June was devoted to sailing, Sardinia and Corsica. Costa Esmeralda is a great place to start summer.
July was for Azerbaijan. My favourite country in Caucasus so far.
August for Georgia. Oh my god, those people can drink! Too much fun, and spectacular mountains! Hospitality. Great people. Lots of music and nice food. What else you need?
As well in August I have popped for ten days in Abkhazia. It was quiet interesting but slightly disappointing.
In September I have crossed a border to Armenia.
And visited Nogorny Karabakh, a true highlight of my trip in Armenia.
October was were things went from outstanding to super duper great. I spend 5 weeks travelling in Iran. My best travel ever. I’m totally in love with this country.
November I hardly managed to fly back to Poland on time to attend a wedding of my best friend from high school! All worth it, dancing and drinking for two days. Typical Polish wedding.
Here it is. 2013 in pictures, and few words. Hope you enjoyed it. Marysia
