Travelling is about wandering through unfamiliar streets, with your nose up, your eyes drawn to the stalls, or your mind carried away by the life that animates it. Museums, restaurants, street- ood, architecture, lifestyle... A large number of factors contribute to the appeal of a place. To establish a global ranking, Time Outthe media and hospitality brand that publishes local guides to some of the world's most interesting cities, asked 22,000 city dwellers around the world to name their favourite streets. And to submit the results to editors to create a ranking that will make you want to travel. The ranking of the 33 coolest streets in the world, inaugurated by the site in 2021, was revealed on Thursday 25 August and reported by CNN. The bad news is that you'll have to leave France to visit them. The Hexagon is not included in this top.

Wellington Street in Montreal, 1st in the ranking
"Our list of the world's coolest streets includes the top thoroughfares that informed locals, including our editors and expert contributors, recommend walking down right now," said James Manning, editor-in-chief of Time Out, in a statement. Topping this year's list is Wellington Street in Montreal's Verdun neighbourhood.
Behind it, Melbourne's Gertrude Street and Glasgow's Great Western Road rounded out the podium. Commenting on the Montreal win, Time Out Canada editor Laura Osborne says the street has "killer cocktail bars, stellar brunches, some of the best sandwiches in town and even an urban sand beach". The next step that is sure to make this street even more attractive is its pedestrianisation.
