  • Location: While Rimini is well-known among young people planning a party vacation, some might not realize that this refers to both the province of Rimini and its namesake capital. The province located in Northern Italy is part of the Emilia-Romagna region. The city of Rimini itself lies on the coast and is one of Italy's most popular beach destinations alongside Cesenatico - especially among Germans. Firmly embedded in our minds, we associate this vacation region with kilometers of beaches that nearly blend seamlessly into one another. Anyone who has been to the Italian Adriatic knows what we're talking about.
  • Climate and Best Travel Time: The northern Italian weather is generally continental - with hot summers, cool winters, and not too little rain. But don't worry, the summer season, which lasts from May to September, delights visitors to Rimini with air temperatures up to 28°C, up to a full ten hours of sunshine a day, and pleasant water temperatures reaching 26°C in July and August.

Travel and Accommodation Tips for Every Type of Traveler

There are many ways to get to Rimini. Most party vacationers, however, prefer the fastest option - flying, which takes about 1.5 hours. But for a relaxed road trip or a family vacation with kids, driving your own car to Rimini is worth it. From Germany, the route goes through Switzerland directly to Italy and is certainly a journey worth taking. This also gives round-trip lovers the chance to explore other places in the Emilia-Romagna region.

If you still want to visit other vacation spots along the Italian Adriatic but prefer a more leisurely arrival, we recommend renting a car or scooter on the spot. Why not drive inland if you're looking to follow in the footsteps of the Middle Ages? Let the idyllic landscape around you enchant you and discover the numerous former fortresses. Our tips for excursions and day trips near Rimini can be found further down.

Or how about a train ride to Rimini? From Munich, the train goes directly to Bologna: You know - the home of Bolognese, but not of spaghetti. From there, it only takes 1.5 hours to reach the province of Rimini.

Once you arrive, you'll also need the right accommodation. Luckily, Rimini offers a colorful selection of all-inclusive hotels, vacation apartments, and holiday homes. To make it easier for you, we have summarized the best deals here.

Rimini is characterized by wonderful Roman architecture and is perfect for a sightseeing tour. One of the attractions you must visit during your Rimini vacation is the Augustus Bridge, also known as the Tiberius Bridge. For us, it serves as the perfect starting point for your Rimini City Tour. This bridge leads directly into the historic center. After passing the famous Piazza Cavour - of course after a mandatory photo shoot - you should make your way to the second point on your attractions list. This includes the Castel Sismondo and the Tempio Malatestiano. These landmarks of the city will transport you back to at least the 15th century, telling the captivating history of Rimini, which goes back over 2000 years.

As you continue strolling, you will also encounter another historical masterpiece: The Basilica Cattedrale. It is so impressive from the outside that you can't miss it, and so interesting inside that you must definitely visit.

You should conclude your Rimini city walk at the Augustus Arch, as it is the oldest preserved triumphal arch of Roman antiquity.

Arts and Culture in Rimini City

The party hotspot on the Italian Adriatic coast not only offers beach clubs and water leisure activities but also a diverse cultural program. Rimini is notably the birthplace of the famous film director Federico Fellini, who was awarded Oscars multiple times in the 20th century for his unique filmmaking. If you want to experience an extraordinary movie visit, you should definitely get a ticket for Cinema Fulgor.

The Galli Theater is another stop in the search for arts and culture in Rimini. The impressive theater building is an absolute eye-catcher and definitely worth a visit - not just for theater fans. It was inaugurated in 1857 by the great Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. However, during World War II, the magnificent theater building suffered severe damage. Fortunately, it was restored, and its original state was restored. Thus, the Galli Theater reopened its doors in 2018 and invites numerous visitors with its unique atmosphere and architecture.

For classical music lovers, we have another highlight: The Sagra Musicale Festival. This festival celebrates classical music for an entire month annually, and has been doing so since 1950.

La Notte Rosa - the Largest Festival in Italy

If one were to apply the saying 'At the right time in the right place' to Rimini, the motto would definitely be 'A visit in July'! Here takes place the La Notte Rosa Festival, the largest and longest festival in Italy. Though it doesn't last long, it stretches over 110 kilometers along the Adriatic coast in Emilia-Romagna, from Comacchio to Cattolica, and will make you see the world through rose-colored glasses - even without sunglasses. For a weekend, enjoy live music, parties, fireworks, exhibitions, and events, all sharing one theme: the color pink. Everything here gets bathed in pink, including the food! A truly cool experience that makes your Rimini summer vacation even more extraordinary.

Shopping Opportunities in Rimini

We have already mentioned the famous Piazza Cavour in Rimini in our sightseeing tips. This square is by no means just an Instagram photo spot, so make sure to plan two visits. Because on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Rimini's weekly market takes place there, featuring a myriad of great items for sale. You will be amazed at the charm this square exudes when it shines in its authenticity under the sun. Small cafés invite you to linger and offer the most delicious cappuccino you probably won't find outside Italy. Listen to the happenings on the square and let the hustle and bustle pass you by - it's a wonderful feeling. But that doesn't mean you should miss the market! Quite the opposite: haggle for your life, as Italians love to negotiate.

If after strolling through the market you find yourself in the mood for shopping, you will find a huge shopping center named Le Befane just outside the city. Bring plenty of cash, as the shopping center is open daily from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Rimini's Best Restaurants and Their Specialties

Italy and good food go hand in hand, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding delicacies in Rimini City. However, we don't want to withhold our favorite insider restaurant tips from you: At the cozy little Caffé La Dolce Vita, you can enjoy an especially good salad or typical Italian pasta, and for dessert, experience the best ice cream in the city. If you always look for local specialties when traveling and want to try something a bit bolder than pizza, pasta, and so on, then the famous flatbread known as Piadina should definitely be on your Rimini bucket list. You can get this truly Italian and incredibly delicious dish at a good price at Casina del Bosco, right on the beach in Rimini.

Also located on the beach, but less aligned with Italian style, is the venue Bounty. We deliberately call it a venue, as Bounty is much more than 'just' a restaurant. Here you'll enjoy juicy burgers or fish served in a great atmosphere. But if you're in the mood for a party, clubbing, delicious drinks, and other events, then this is also the right place.

Alongside these three tasty establishments, you'll find several charming places in Rimini where you can make a lovely stop and treat your palate.

Now I won't keep you in suspense any longer, as you surely know that Rimini travel tips often list a multitude of clubs and discos, and this destination is known for a carefree party vacation. The only question left is, which ones are the best? Because the saying goes: When you have options, you have dilemmas. And that definitely applies to the theme of partying in Rimini. But don't worry, we'll let you know which clubs are at the top.

Let's start with the most popular club, the Carnaby Club. You will find three dance floors waiting for you, offering a colorful mix of music including hip hop, R'n'B, house, techno, dance, and current charts to turn night into day. If that's not enough and you're more attracted to laser and fog shows, then you should spend your evening at Altromondo. Here, electronic music at its finest will fill your ears, especially in the summer when internationally known DJs perform and party with you until the early morning hours.

For those who prefer a slower pace but still don't want to miss Rimini's beach party vibe, we have an exclusive tip: Coconuts. Inspired by the best bars, clubs, and restaurants in the USA, Coconuts combines excellent Italian and European cuisine, party music including DJ performances, as well as many other exciting events around celebration.

Depending on the club you choose, you should also be prepared for corresponding entrance fees. As for cocktail and other alcoholic drink prices, you can expect similar prices to those in German clubs. So if you want to spend a pure party vacation in Rimini, make sure to bring enough pocket money.
