Located 130 km west of the Chilean capital Santiago and about 60 km south of the port city of Valparaíso, the San Alfonso del Mar Resort was built in 2006 in Algarrobo. From the front, the resort looks like a large hotel complex, but behind the buildings lies a saltwater pool that has made it into the Guinness Book of Records. With a total length of more than one kilometer, the pool is so large that it's hard to imagine.

1,013 meters long, 250 million liters capacity, up to 3.5 meters deep

Since the largest pool in the world requires so much water, the engineers came up with a solution: the necessary water is pumped from the nearby sea, filtered, and purified. Due to a special film used throughout the pool, the water heats up quickly to 26°C through the sun.

The largest pool in the world even has enough space for sailing or kayaking. You can rent boats from the hotel and set off right away. The crystal-clear water and depth of up to 3.5 meters provide the perfect opportunity to learn to dive. If you are interested, you can book diving courses at the resort. Scattered across the entire water surface are several small islands and boat docks. If you need a break, you can stop there and enjoy the wonderful view of the sea. In case of rain, be sure to visit the glass pyramid, as there hides a sandy beach with palm trees and a waterfall.
