Christmas with Children in the Mountains
1 - Trento, Bolzano and Merano, Trentino-Alto Adige
It may seem obvious, but the first holiday destination when one thinks of Christmas and the mountains, is certainly Trentino: magnificent scenery, picturesque fairytale Christmas markets, excellent food and plenty of it: these are some of the features for which a holiday in Trentino has become a classic for the whole family.
Trento is a magnificent town with markets starting on 18 November and continuing until the Epiphany, with a thousand events and initiatives. Every year the Children's Village is set up in Piazza Dante, with games and workshops, an ice rink and ponies. Not to be missed is the MUSE (Science Museum of Trento), which enchants children of all ages.
Bolzano and Merano are famous throughout Europe for their Christmas markets... your children will be delighted, your pockets perhaps a little less so!
